Practical notes for travelling to Uganda.
Getting here
Entebbe International Airport is Uganda's main international gateway, around 45 minutes from Kampala. We include airport transfers on every itinerary.
Entry requirements
Visa and vaccination requirements depend on your nationality and change from time to time. We will tell you what applies to you at the time of booking, and we recommend confirming independently with the relevant authority before you travel.
Currency and payments
The Ugandan shilling is the local currency. US dollars are widely accepted at lodges. Card acceptance is good in Kampala and patchy in the parks — carry some cash.
Health
Speak to a travel health professional well before departure about vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis. Uganda is a malarial country.
Connectivity
Mobile coverage is good in towns and variable in the parks. Most lodges have wifi of some description; do not depend on it.
Climate
Uganda sits on the equator at altitude, so temperatures are moderate year round. Mornings in the highlands and forests are genuinely cold. Bring a layer.
Dress
Modest dress is entirely normal in Uganda and no explanation is needed anywhere you will travel with us.
