Chimpanzee Experiences
Tracking chimpanzees in Kibale, Kyambura and Budongo.

Chimpanzees are fast, loud and social. Finding them usually means following the noise, then standing still while the group moves through the canopy above you. Kibale offers the highest success rates; Kyambura Gorge and Budongo Forest fit neatly into wider circuits.
What to expect
A morning or afternoon briefing followed by a forest walk of one to three hours, then an hour with the group once found.
Permits and practicalities
Permits are limited and should be arranged in advance. Current rates are quoted at the time of enquiry.
Who it suits
- Travellers wanting a forest experience without a full gorilla trek
- Families with teenagers
- Birders
- Anyone combining parks
Halal dining on this journey
Meals arranged with your lodge; packed meals on full-day habituation experiences.
Prayer
Tracking sessions start at fixed times that sit comfortably around prayer, and we plan the day so Dhuhr is unhurried.
Questions
Usually shorter and less steep, though the forest floor can still be slippery. The challenge is more about looking up than climbing.
