Our approach to halal travel
Exactly how we arrange dining, prayer and accommodation — and what we will not claim.
Dining
We confirm halal meal arrangements with each property before you book, in writing. On days with long game drives we carry packed halal meals so you are not dependent on a lodge's service times. In towns along the safari routes — Masaka, Mbarara, Fort Portal, Kasese — halal dining is readily available and we plan stops accordingly.
We describe our dining as halal meals arranged and halal-friendly options available. We do not describe lodges as halal certified, because with very few exceptions they are not, and telling you otherwise would be dishonest.
Prayer
Prayer times shape the itinerary rather than fitting around it. Game drives begin after Fajr at the lodge. Long transfers include a planned stop. Prayer mats and a qibla compass travel in every vehicle, and we ask each property in advance about a suitable, private space.
Some activities — a full-day gorilla trek in particular — cannot be scheduled precisely. We discuss this with you before you book rather than leaving you to work it out in the forest.
Accommodation
Chosen on location, comfort, privacy and suitability for Muslim families. We consider whether family rooms are available, whether there is a quiet space to pray, how the property handles alcohol service in shared areas, and how private the rooms and dining areas are.
Guides
Briefed before every journey on prayer timing, dining arrangements, pace and privacy — so you are not explaining your requirements on the first morning.
What we will not do
We will not tell you a property is certified when it is not, guarantee a wildlife sighting, or promise an outcome that belongs to someone else — a visa office, a wildlife authority, or the weather.
